Looking to expand your start-up?

2017 was a very promising year for a number of French start-ups. Indeed, French start-ups raised a total of over €2 billion in 2017.

Before taking the plunge, it's important to know which sectors are in vogue.

To help you create your own start-up, we're focusing today on the hot sectors for 2018!

Start-up dossier: hot sectors

BtoB services

First, it's important to look at the BtoB or "Business to Business" services sector .

With 462 million euros raised in 2017, business services represent the year's most successful sector

Many start-ups are developing software for businesses, particularly in the field of marketing (MarTech).

The BtoB services sector is a dynamic environment in which to develop a new business.

Medical technologies: MedTech and BioTech

Secondly, start-ups in the medical sector(MedTech or BioTech) managed to raise €149 million in 2017.

A large number of French start-ups are entering the sector to develop connected medicine projects.

Some start-ups are working on treatments in multiple fields, such as immuno-oncology with start-up Ose Immunotherapeutics, or cardiology with Quantum Genomics, for example.

Others are seeking to digitalize certain medical procedures, for example by enabling patients to book appointments with their doctor online.

Fintech

Finally, the last truly hot sector for 2018 in France obviously remains Fintech, with 132 million euros raised in 2017.

French companies' expertise in finance and technology is recognized worldwide.

Fintech is bursting with new services and products: Big Data insurance, crowdfunding, online kitty...

The Fintech sector seems to offer an ever-expanding development horizon

Before embarking on the steps involved in creating a start-up, it's important to take into account the situation in the sector concerned.

While BtoB services, medical technologies and Fintech seem to be in vogue in France, many other sectors are in decline.
