As 2018 has just begun, you've made a major resolution for your company at the start of the year: keen to adopt eco-responsible behavior on your premises, you've decided to fight to achieve as many energy savings as possible and thus set an example.

In the article below, we give you 5 tips to make your bet a success.

Dossier: 5 tips for saving energy in your business premises

Using heating wisely

The first thing to do to save energy in your business premises is to get better control of your heating.

In fact, it is the main source of energy expenditure (and waste).

It's completely possible to reduce heating without any loss of working comfort. For example, reducing the room temperature from 20° to 19° or even 18° will in no way affect your employees' working conditions, but will reduce your energy consumption by 7%, no less!

Do not leave electronic devices on standby

We don't say it often enough, but the "standby" mode of electronic devices is the worst enemy of energy savings. In fact, they maintain energy consumption throughout the night, and are partly responsible for the high monthly electricity bill.

Energy-saving software is available to turn off standby electronic systems.

Unplug your chargers once the batteries in your electronic devices have been recharged.

Here again, energy consumption is often overlooked because it's invisible. In other words, it has no sound or visual impact, so it goes unnoticed.

However, leaving a charger permanently plugged in to the mains is tantamount to using it, and therefore generates unnecessary energy consumption, which multiplied by the number of employees in a company can once again increase your electricity bill.

Choose a green electricity offer

It's hard to imagine adopting eco-responsible corporate behavior without changing your electricity offer to a green electricity offer, which allows as many kWh of electricity from renewable energy sources (wind turbines, photovoltaic solar panels...) to be injected into the power grid as kWh of electricity consumed within your company.

You can check out EDF's rates for its various subscriptions, and therefore for its green offer, by consulting the article written by Fournisseur Energie here.

Similarly, if you're looking to save energy, getting more precise information on the price of a kWh of electricity can be a good thing. To do so, go directly to the following address: www.fournisseur-energie.com/aides-fiches-techniques/prix-kwh/

Optimize lighting use as much as possible

Last but not least, one of the most visible and therefore easily controllable energy costs is lighting.

One fifth of energy consumption in offices comes from this particular item, so it's important to equip your premises with energy-efficient equipment such as low-energy light bulbs.

Also, and above all, presence detectors that dim or switch off lighting completely when no-one is in the room or when they are absent, thus preventing unnecessary energy consumption.
